I'm not sure what you mean. Normally one talks about certificates in the
sense of using HTTPS encrypted transfer. There is a patch to allow htdig
to use OpenSSL to index through HTTPS.
In any case, the 3.2 code introduces the idea of "external transport"
allowing you to write your own scripts to d/l documents in much the same
way as the "external parsers" in the current code.
