However, if you're concerned about security, you must upgrade to 3.1.5.

Hopefully, the patch will apply to the newer code with little difficulty.
Please let us know if it doesn't.
Another option is to index the whole site locally, using local_urls and
local_urls_only, and using "http://" instead of "https://" in all URLs.
Then, use two different settings of url_part_aliases in your digging and
searching config files to map the "http://" to "https://" in search results.
