This is very odd. The configure scripts for 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 are identical.
Are you sure you didn't mean 3.1.2? It was in 3.1.3 that the check for
sys/select.h was added, and it seems to be that test that's failing.
However, the error messages you posted seem to indicate a problem with
your GCC header files, as they refer to a file that was not installed on
your system. You should problably look into reinstalling GCC.
