Hi - I am trying to compile HtDig under Digital Unix 4.0E

With htdig 3.1.4, when I run configure, I get the following error:

configure: error: To compile ht://Dig, you will need a C++ library.
Try installing libstdc++.

libstdc++ is installed and used on this machine, which is what is
confusing me.
Here are the last few lines of "config.log" :

configure:2018: checking for sys/select.h
configure:2028: c++ -E conftest.C >/dev/null 2>conftest.out
configure:2056: checking for fstream.h
configure:2066: c++ -E conftest.C >/dev/null 2>conftest.out
In file included from
                 from configure:2062:
_G_config.h: No such file or directory
configure: failed program was:
#line 2061 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
#include <fstream.h>

I also tried compiling htdig 3.1.3. This time ./configure completes
sucessfully, but when I run "make" I get the following error: (the
last few lines)

o txn.o txn_auto.o txn_rec.o xa.o xa_db.o xa_map.o
test ! -f /usr/bin/ranlib || /usr/bin/ranlib libdb.a
gcc -o db_archive db_archive.o err.o getlong.o libdb.a
Object file format error in: db_archive.o: read_cur_obj_info: bad file
magic number(0x457f)
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** Exit 1
*** Exit 1

I have looked in the FAQ and mailing list archives but no-one seems to
have a definite answer to this. If anyone can help me in any way, I
would be very grateful.

Many Thanks

Jason Carvalho
