I don't think you should remove exact:1 from search_algorithm. I'm using

search_algorithm: exact:1 synonyms:0.5 endings:0.1

with the standard english.0 and english.aff dictionary and affix file,
and it works fine. Note also that htsearch must find and use the same
root2word.db and word2root.db files that you created with htfuzzy, so if
your "configfile" that you used for htfuzzy above is not the same config
file you use for htsearch, then the latter must have the same definitions
for endings_root2word_db and endings_word2root_db, or it just won't work.
