Not necessarily. You can issue search queries on the command line
of htsearch or have htsearch run in prompt mode. If you want to
do this, you should modify the HTML template files in a way that
makes sense for command line queries (e.g. have highlighting done
with escape-sequences for the terminal you´re working at). It also
will help you a lot if you have a little shell or Perl script that
formats your queries for you (like automatically specifying the
configuration file to use, shell-escaping special characters etc.).
