[htdig] htdig doesn't pick up my IP protected pages, why?

Hi all,

I'm assistant webmaster at a university where we use htdig. We've noticed that htdig doesn't pick up pages with IP restrictions. I'm surprised that this happens --- shouldn't htdig construct it's database as a user with our IP address, which would give it full access to these pages?
