[htdig] format for extra word characters

I would like to extend the characters recognized to other ISO8859-1
(Latin-1) characters like é, č, ü, etc.. I am using Digital UNIX 4.0b and
have locale set for "C"

Do I put the characters into htdig.conf in extra_word_characters as HTML,
ASCII or other format?

Also do I separate extra_word_characters with a whitespace?
