If your htdig.conf turns on logging, there was a bug in htsearch up to and
including 3.1.0b4 that caused a segmentation fault on some systems when
certain environment variables were not set. You may want to try one of
the latest source code snapshots, if this is the problem you're running
into, as it's now fixed. If you're not turning on logging, the problem
must lie elsewhere, so we'd need more details on exactly what's happening
before any of us could track it down.
