Sorry - I knew there was something else to mention when reporting my problems with building htdig-3.1.0b4 under Solaris 2.5.1:

I had to change the INSTALL to be an absolute path thus - for my config:

*** Makefile.config.dist Tue Jan 19 11:36:09 1999
--- Makefile.config Tue Jan 19 11:38:49 1999
***************
*** 23,29 ****
  MAKEDEPEND= /a/biela/vol/fileservers/biela/biela1/src/local/INFO/www/htdig-3.1.0b4/sol2/makedp
  FIND= /usr/bin/find
  AR= /usr/ccs/bin/ar
! INSTALL= ./install-sh -c
  INSTALL_PROGRAM= $(INSTALL)
  INSTALL_DATA= $(INSTALL)
  PDF_PARSER= /usr/local/bin/acroread
--- 23,29 ----
  MAKEDEPEND= /a/biela/vol/fileservers/biela/biela1/src/local/INFO/www/htdig-3.1.0b4/sol2/makedp
  FIND= /usr/bin/find
  AR= /usr/ccs/bin/ar
! INSTALL= /usr/src/local/INFO/www/htdig-3.1.0b4/sol2/install-sh -c
  INSTALL_PROGRAM= $(INSTALL)
  INSTALL_DATA= $(INSTALL)
  PDF_PARSER= /usr/local/bin/acroread

Hope this helps ...
