htdig: Accessing a second database

I've used htdig and htmerge to create a database in a non-standard directory:
        /export/htdig/db/foobar

Now, when I try and run htsearch from the command line, it wants to look in
the standard directory, even when I specify the config parameter:

>htsearch config=foobar

Unable to read word database file '/export/htdig/db/db.words.gdbm'
Did you run htmerge?

The conf file is in the right place: /export/htdig/conf/foobar.conf ... at
least I assume so, because htdig and htmerge had no problems finding it
with the -c switch.

"htsearch --help" doesn't work, and documentation on the site and mailing
list archive doesn't provide much help either. Any ideas?

(I'm running it from the command line, because I will eventually be running
the script from a PHP page and parsing the results, not sending the query
directly to the htsearch script. I know it *can* be done ... the PHP site
uses it quite nicely: www.php.net)
