htdig: multiple sets of data -- one search form?

Is it feasible to set up a search form that'll let me create mulitple
sets of data, and search via a single location? If it's in the
documentation, I didn't see it... -- I've got some use datasets that
are somewhat unwieldy, and I'd like to focus them if I can, both by
date and by topic, splitting things into, oh, current postings and
>18months old, and among certain topic lines.

Any hints on ways to do this? Generating the databases isn't that big a
deal, but I don't see the hook that'll let me let users select which
database to search from on a form (including, hopefully, multiple
ones....)

thoughts?
