htdig: problems with htdig-3.0.8b2-1.i386.rpm?

I installed htdig from an RPM package called:
        htdig-3.0.8b2-1.i386.rpm.

Now I'm having problems with the command:
/usr/sbin/htfuzzy -v endings
        results in a core dump...

yet:
/usr/sbin/htfuzzy -v synonyms
        runs successfully

Has anybody else had this problem with the RPM?
Is it possible that the RPM package installs the "endings"
algorithm incorrectly?
Do you think it would be worth my while to compile
everything myself from the source files instead?
