Actually, do you have an URL you could give me so I could test the same copy
of 3.2.0b2 that you're using? Also, if you'd like to play with the setup
that's giving me problems, I'll try not to touch this link:

Is there a way to tell the configure or make scripts to turn off gcc
optimization? I see -O2 being sent to both gcc and c++ in my log of make's
output, but am not wise in the ways of makefiles.
htdig.conf can be sent along if needed; I've also got logs of the output and
error of configure, make, and make install.
