I can safely rule out old versions of htdb. I deleted the old
versions and I still got bad test results. The fixes you committed
also do not seem to help here. I hope to have a little more time to
debug tomorrow--it's already been a very long day. I'll take a look
at these core files to see what's going on there.

I attach the results of the configure script. The only item that
really jumps out is the endian-ness, but that shouldn't matter. In
terms of libraries and headers, it should be identical to a RedHat
6.2 system.
