I believe that 3.2 now compresses that file by default, so a simple
grep won't do it. Have you tried htsearch from the command line?
If that works, but it fails when called from the search page, that
would suggest a configuration problem. If htsearch fails either
way, it could still be a configuration problem, e.g. if your search
configuration file doesn't use the same database files as the one
for htdig/htmerge.
