Well. I think your anger is justified. Given the fact that your contribution
is absolutely necessary to htdig, I think everyone will agree that all
contributors (including Marcel and I) have to proceed in the following way:
Never commit a change unless 'make distcheck' says ok. This will guarantee
that 1) the build can be made outside the source tree 2) the tests run
well.
On the Berkeley DB distribution subject I will do the following today:
1) Rename libdb.a into libhtdb.a to avoid conflicts.
2) Fix something clean to emulate DESTDIR in db/ directory
3) Run and fix anything that prevents make distcheck to run
