Greetings,

As the site indexing is done locally on a system, wouldn't it
be nicer to have a Perl script which can robotically scan the
pages through the unsupported protocols? It would give much
wider customization and upgrade.

Perl does support Berkely 2 database, dbmopen()/dbmclose()
are however deprecated DB_File should be used.

Is the work under process or may I start it?

You can always provide it as an alternative to your current
indexer (which will always be faster).

Thank you.
