Ciao my dear 'talponi',
I write you regarding installing Linux on a multiprocessor PC.
Here are the machine main specifics:
- ATX Main Board with Intel 440BX chipset
- 2 Pentium III INTEL 500 MHz, 512KB cache processors
- 256MB RAM (EEC)
- n. 4 Hard disks (SCSI) of a 9.1 GB capacity
The PC will also have a CDROM and a DLT 40GB tape device. And on it, I
should install Informix too (:'-().
I must confess you, that I am not very experienced with such a big machine.
For you, is it real possible to install a Linux OS on it? And if yes, wich
distribution? (I have the RedHat 5.2, 6.0 and 6.1)
Is it difficult or not to install SMP?
Finally, do you think I can do it by myself?
Thanks in advance again
Ciao
-Gabriele
P.S.: Will ht://dig gain in performance terms? Hey, just kidding ... :-)
