       Hi,

I've applied the patch for big file support successfully on
linux-2.2.9. I've been able to write a small program that creates a
4Gb file. Without changing anything else. My box is a linux redhat 6.0
with glibc-2.1.
However everything else fails on the file (ls does not show
the real size if over 4Gb and various file utilites fail because the
size is too big).

I'm not asking for endless troubles or global recompilation of
linux so I will switch to freebsd instead.

       Cheers,
