[htdig3-dev] problems with digging and dhtml

Hello,

We recently completed a javascript-and-ssi-intensive dhtml site only to
find that htdig fails to follow the dynamic links and therefore does not
go beyond the first page. In other words: htdig fails to dig.

Since our dhtml site is essentially our text-only site with bells and
whistles, we circumvented the problem by temporarily substituting the
text-only site for the dhtml so as to generate the necessary files, then
putting the dhtml site back in its domain. When you search our dhtml site,
you're really getting results generated from the text-only site.

While this hack seems to work, it would still be much better to have
htdig work with dhtml sites, perhaps not by following links but actually
looking through nested folders and performing its cataloging functions on
all files contained therein, regardless of the links.

Regardless, any insights into digging difficult files would be
appreciated.

Thank you,

-S
