With regards to design of the ht://Dig site and the logo contest,
I'd like to mention a couple of things:

Design:- Since ht://Dig is something server-based (in opposite to
client-based), we should stick to a design that is client friendly.
You said it works well with Lynx (and I like it that way, too), but
have you ever seen it on a monochrome display (I know quite a few
terminal rooms with monochrome X11 terminals - not old ones, of
course)? Although I personally like the color-scheme (hmm.. do I?)
of the (current) site, I must say that it is not very friendly to
people with disabilities (if a graphical browser on a monochrome
display cannot render it well enough, those people will have diffi-
culties reading it, too).

Logo contest:- The same applies to the logo as well (the color-scheme).
However, I still prefer the original logo although it could render better
on monochrome displays. the reason for this is not, because I got used
to it, but because it has got some "human touch" - people prefer commu-
nication with other people rather than with machines. From my point of
view it is also still the best one with regards to the graphical design.
I also should like to add another point: some manufacturer of some web
browser have added the ability to their browser to download an icon file
from the website which then is automatically associated with the bookmark.
Therefore it might be a good idea to keep the logo in a way that makey it
possible to transform it into icons of 32x32 and 48x48 pixel size.

regards,
  Torsten
