That's no longer a problem. We got rid of that regex lib because it turned
out to have horrid performance, especially on backrefs.

However, I realized I made a few mistakes when I applied your patches to
the new source tree. I just committed the changes and tried things out. The
performance seems *roughly* the same as far as "feel." I'll try it on my
server tonight and see if there's a measurable difference in performance.
(Now that I see it in action, I doubt people defining normal limits will.)
